Watch: Dolly Parton Joins Pentatonix for A Capella Version of “Jolene”

Dolly Parton teamed with Cracker Barrel to release a deluxe version of her new album called, Pure & Simple, and the southern restaurant chain paired her with Pentatonix to do an a cappella version of Parton’s classic hit, “Jolene.”

Her classic, “Jolene,” was originally released in October of 1973 and became a No. 1 hit for her on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Pentatonix is a Texas based group that gained national recognition as top a cappella after winning the third season of The Sing-Off in 2011, which landed them a recording deal. Thanks to Cracker Barrel who chose to pick this group to be its first-ever Spotlight Music artist.

Hearing Parton’s song “Jolene” re-arranged to a cappella gives her tune a unique sound and is surprisingly still true to the original spirit of the song, with harmonies that gives a great dynamic to the song.
