Hammond Police Department seek two individuals from Mccomb

July 15, 2019, City of Hammond, LA – On July 12, 2019, at approximately

11:30 pm, an officer with the Hammond Police Department was patrolling the area of West Thomas Street near Highway 51 when gunshots were fired in the vicinity. The officer closed in on the area and found a victim with gunshot wounds in the Hammond West Shopping Center parking lot, located at 2108 West Thomas Street. Medical aid was rendered by Acadian Ambulance, and the victim was transported to North Oaks Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.


Upon further investigation, HPD detectives learned that the victim and two friends came from Mississippi to Hammond to sell narcotics. During the drug transaction, two unknown white males, who were in a white sedan, pulled a handgun and shot one of the three individuals from Mississippi. The suspects then robbed the victim of his narcotics and sped off in an unknown direction.


HPD is attempting to locate Jesse Williams, 20 years old of McComb, Mississippi, and a 16-year-old juvenile. These individuals were with the victim during the shooting. Arrest warrants are being issued on all identified individuals for Distribution of Schedule I Drugs and Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances.
